A man filmed the moment waves flooded an activity centre at a campground in southern Norway on January 21, as the country was battered by winds of up to 144 kmph.
Haakon Haakonsen, who shot this footage, was practicing archery with three others when water gushed in through the building’s entrance, he told Storyful.
“The wave came suddenly without any warning,” he said. “The consecutive waves filled them room up with more waters. No one was hurt.”
In the video, foamy water splashes against the building’s windows and streams in through the open door, floating furniture and games tables.
The extreme weather event that fuelled the violent waves was declared over on January 23. However, a yellow warning remained in place for parts of Norway as strong winds continued.
