Qatar Airways Trip Report flying from Madrid to Doha onboard one of the Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on a lovely winter day.

A comfortable flight on the Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Madrid to Doha. However, is it enough to say that Qatar Airways economy class is the best one in the world? Based only on this flight, I honestly say no. Is it a bad economy class? Of course not, I'm not saying that, it's in fact one of the best Economy classes out there.

Qatar Airways economy class is above the average, but isn't the best one out there. I found the Qatar B787 a little over-crowded: the legroom on the B787 could be better. The food quality was very good (top), but the quantity wasn't. On a 6h flight, there was just 1 meal. No snacks or anything. Did they forget to distribute the pre-landing meal?

However, what made me more upset was the 1h30min delay on departure: I was monitoring the flight all the previous week and they were always delayed. The reason was that the ground staff was doing something with the bags... Having these delays when you offer connecting flights with less than 1h30min connecting time in Doha creates unnecessary stress for the passengers. I almost lost my connecting flight in Doha due to this delay.

The slogan that was all the time appearing on the screens was "Qatar Airways, the airline that you can rely on". Well, 8 days before my flight they sent me an email saying that the flight was canceled. They offered me a flight departing 7h after the original one with a night connexion in Doha to my final destination. It's not very easy to rely on an airline that cancels flights 1 week in advance.

I think that "disappointed" is the best word that defines how I felt that day with Qatar Airways. Even if you compare it with almost any other airline, that "disappointing experience with Qatar" will be better than the best experience with almost any other airline. However, when you fly with Qatar Airways you expect excellence, and that day, on that flight, it was not delivered. For sure I will keep flying with Qatar Airways in the future.
