In today's episode of Forward Guidance, Jack Farley is joined by Dr. Sal Mercogliano, maritime historian and shipping expert, who explains how the turmoil in the global shipping crisis is the ultimate driver of inflation. Mercogliano, a professor at Campbell University and the host of the "What Is Going On With Shipping" YouTube channel, notes the four main types of shipping (container, dry bulk, tanker, and cruise lines) and contends that while shipping rates are likely to continue declining, they probably will not collapse as they having during previous recessions because of alliances and consolidations within the industry. Filmed on August 11, 2022.
