This is the story of Sidmouth’s cliffs, beaches, bays, headlands and estuary – where they came from, how they’ve changed and what they are doing now. It’s a story that includes massive sea-level changes whichcaused our coastline to be occupied, abandoned and re-occupied by the sea, each time creating familiarcoastal landforms. Did you know that the Market place is below average high tide? Roger will deal with present-day processes such as cliff erosion and beach formation, but not the Beach Management Plandirectly.
Roger is a retired academic in earth science and lectured at Sheffield, Exeter and Oxford universities. He has several SVA publications and many of you will know him from the Sidmouth Folk Festival Singing the Rocks day.
