The spectacular mountain Reinebringen in Lofoten has been the scene of many accidents. Last year, the money came to secure the hiking trail. But for the second year in a row, the trail builders are stuck in Nepal. This has consequences for 80 small and large hiking trails across the country.

Reinebringen is one of the most visited mountain peaks in Lofoten. In high season, over 1000 people take the trip up the Sherpa stairs daily to enjoy the view of Reine.

The mountain has been the scene of several accidents, some of them with fatalities.

To improve safety and avoid wear and tear and rubble, construction began on a Sherpa staircase in 2016.

According to the plan, it will go all the way up to the top of the nearly 500 meter high mountain. But five years later, there is still a 100 meter path under the top that lacks stairs.
