Hello, internet. In this video PART 1, I will show you one of the easiest maintenance tasks which you should do annually. If you forget to do this, it might create a big problem in the future. This work is not mentioned in any of the manufacturer's scheduled maintenance list.

This is for the modern shaft-driven BMW motorcycles. My bike is the BMW K 1600 GTL MY 2017. I have done this work for an R-series 1200 cc bikes also (BMW R 1200 GS and GSA).

This is so easy to do, and you can do it without a bike lift. If you notice before this job that the rubber boot between the final drive and the swing arm is worn or has holes in it, it is easy to buy beforehand and install while you do this task. The grease I use is Castrol Optimol Paste TA.

In PART 2 I will show how to assemble the final drive. There will be one important little issue which will save you some time and will make task way easier.
