I have been wanting to make a video about Britain's lost fishing indsutry for a long time, it is an indsutry that I have never looked into before (aside from a video about fish and chips).
I thought the best place to go was Grimsby. The town which once had the busiest port in the world. A place that was once world famous for its fishing trade. Unfortunately, Grimsby now seems the victim of constant negative attention, and with a work force of fishing that did disappear, I was intrigued to see what I would find.
Rarely do I go out filming and come across so much interesting and relevent stuff...yet Grimsby was full of the best interactions I have ever had whilst making a video.
A huge thanks to
Alfred Enderby for showing me round the smoke house, that was unbelieavle cool - https://www.instagram.com/alfredenderby/?hl=en
The team down at https://buylobstercrab.com/ for showing me round there boats.
Martin at https://grimsbyfishmarket.co.uk/ for showing me indsutry does properly live on and giving me the chance to experience the unforgettable fish auction
Emma Linguard at the Port Office for allowing me to keep my footage and trusting in my video.
All the team at https://www.creativestartcic.org/blackgull-community-venue for the amazing work they do with the recovery community.
The amazing stuff going on at https://www.centralhallgrimsby.org.uk/ and looking after the Fisherman's Chapel.
I hope you enjoy this film, it was easily my favourite to make. And I highly reccomend a trip to Grimsby. Go with no pretense or prejudice and you will have a great time like I did.
Until Next Time,
W.T
