Dr. Leopold will discuss the ecology of natural native plant communities in the Northeast that include species found on remarkably difficult sites, e.g., highly alkaline, saline, acidic, droughty, and flooded. Native plants found in these communities will be highlighted, including their ecological role and how they can be used in the home garden as well as larger scale projects.
