Volcanoes, glaciers, geysers and waterfalls – welcome to Iceland! Although the picturesque landscapes are truly breathtaking, the main goal of my trip was to compare it to the Russian Kamchatka region, which shares the scenic nature. Despite the shared beauty, the distance brings differences in tourist infrastructure and environmental care. I traveled all over the island in the Atlantic Ocean, talked to immigrants from Ukraine and Belarus and the former mayor of Reykjavik to find out what’s the difference between the region in Russia and European north.
