Analysts were predicting that META was going to lose 43% year over year on the profit on their earnings. It was worse, they lost 55%... and the stock immediately flew up $30, why? Well, because META announced a $40 billion stock buyback program. That's two entire years of the company's total revenue now dedicated to buying back their own stock to keep it from crashing. The bread and butter of their company, Facebook, is swirling the toilet bowl of irrelevancy, and Zuckerberg's shift to building a an immersive simulator where you can pretend to be at work sucks billions and entices zero people (who wants to spend their free time pretending to be at work?), META does nothing about shoring up their bottom line, and the stock price goes nuts on the manipulation. This is why we are doomed as a society.
