Reinebringen, the most visited mountain on the Lofoten Islands, is an iconic destination for many hikers in Norway. Standing at 448 meters tall, this peak offers breathtaking views of the village of Reine, surrounding fjords, and steep mountain ranges. The trail to the summit consists of 1,978 steps over a 1.1 km distance, with an average incline of around 40%. The hike is physically demanding, but with good fitness, it can be completed in under an hour. At the top, hikers are rewarded with unforgettable views of Reinefjorden and vast mountain ranges stretching in every direction.
The path to Reinebringen was once considered dangerous due to the steep terrain and falling rocks. In 2016, steps were built in collaboration with Nepalese Sherpas to improve safety and protect the environment. Today, Reinebringen is more accessible, but it’s still important to wear proper hiking shoes and be prepared for a challenging ascent.
Although Reinebringen is a relatively short hike, it’s considered one of the most beautiful, offering views that make every bit of effort worthwhile. If you visit Lofoten, a hike to Reinebringen is a must!
