Paramont had signed Ginger to a 7 year contract so she could play an excellent part, "Puff Randolph", in her first movie, "Young Man of Manhattan" (1930). Then her roles diminshed, they just did not HAVE many standout roles for her particular skills, so she begged out of her contract and moved to Hollywood to do a movie for RKO. Ginger had what I consider her breakout role in her 6th movie, "The Tip Off", playing "Babyface", for RKO. It was part of a three movie deal, and, once again, after Ginger shines in the part, now RKO does not have that special kind of role. In the next two movies for RKO she plays the star's love interest, and the motivation for the plot, while not having much of an actual part herself.
