I visited Engelöya and admired the beautiful morning scenery, including the distant mountains of the Lofoten archipelago. I wondered about the German soldiers stationed at this fortress. These landscapes were just as stunning 80 years ago. The Norwegians have inhabited these areas for centuries, so they saw the Germans as invaders. After the war, the soldiers left, but the forts and military sites remained. It's good to see these memorials preserved as museums, reminding us of how the war affected everyone.

Narvik is a city on the E6 highway, offering museums and historical sites. It gained significance when the Swedes transported iron ore to its harbour during World War II, which was crucial for Nazi Germany.

Continuing from Narvik, I rode eastwards into Sweden. The road ascended, and the trees became sparse in the low birch forest. This change from inland to the coast is one of the highlights of my trips to Norway. While I'm excited to go home, I'm also nostalgic as the trip ends. I still have almost 1000 km to drive and one more overnight stay before heading home.
