Filmed on 21.12.2016, during a cruise from Copenhagen, Denmark to Oslo, Norway and back, on 19-21.12.2016.
This was indeed filmed in December 2016, but I had forgotten these files on my computer for a little more than three years, but luckily I found them all intact and they will all be published until the 10th of February, 2020.
We had our separate cabins onboard the m/s Pearl Seaways (ex- Viking Athena, 1989) with windows. We even got to film the staff elevators onboard and inside one of the elevator machine rooms as well as in the control room before the ship's engine room, very interesting indeed!
The M/S Pearl Seaways has quite an interesting history: First, it was built for VIking Line (ex-Rederi AB Slite which went bankrupt in early 1993) for the Stockholm-Mariehamn route and completed in April 1989, then in August 1993 was sold for Star Cruises and renamed the Langkapuri Star Aquarius (during that period, in 1996-97 the elevators got modernized already), but then returned back to the Nordic Countries, this time to the Copenhagen - Oslo route, in the Summer of 2001, where she has served almost 20 years since then at the moment. Her sister ship is the m/s Star Pisces (ex- Viking Kalypso, completed in April 1990), sailing from Hong Kong on 1 and 2-night cruises at the moment, and has to be captured one day.
This is a video of one of the passenger fore elevator shafts on deck 3, peeking down on the locked-off deck 2. When the cruiseferry was in Viking Line's service, there used to be a casino and some parking space there, but probably no cabins at all, but it has been locked-off since, and though the elevator shafts do reach deck 2, it doesn't seem to have any doors there as they have probably been removed. Very interesting indeed!
I have also filmed the Crown Seaways (1991, completed in 1994) in March 2016, so those videos are available too.
