We're revisiting our last few days in the Netherlands, after the METS Trade had wrapped up. We were lucky enough to score invites to 2 Dutch boat builders, both who do custom aluminum work.
Our first stop was to see the progress of Distant Shores IV - with future owners being Paul and Sheryl Shard. We see the progress of their Orion 49 thus far, and hear from Paul not only the reason they have chosen this boat, but how it is all coming together.
Next we make a stop at neighboring KM Yachtbuilders. A name that has been very familiar in our 'boat-hold' for the last 10 years, as they produce Matt's favorite monohull on earth - the Bestevear.
In our tour, we're able to see every stage of their builds - from framing, to interiors, to the finished product.
We had such a blast doing this tour - not only because we're in the middle of a boat build ourselves, but because six years ago we were in the middle of an aluminum boat rebuild. We can truly appreciate all the work that goes on in both of these yards, and we can't wait to see more of their finished products hit the water.
We hope you enjoy!
