Sørøya island in Northern Norway is maybe the most beautiful island in the region! A jewel with fjords, mountains, lakes and green plains bordering the wild Norwegian sea. This movie is a pictorial story showing places I visited in the summer of 2021 while I was walking the trail that takes you across the island from Hasvik village in the South and to Tarhalsen lighthouse in the North. This is a marked 110 km long trail that takes you through a beautiful and wild Arctic landscape. This is a place far from the madding crowd and you will not be sorry for visiting:) If you want to have one wild amazing wild camping adventure in Norway, then you should consider Sørøya as a hiking destination!
At the end there is a picture of a Mongolian camel not so far from Akkarfjord village. It belongs to a local farm where the parents wanted to give a special animal to their son.

Sørøya (Northern Sami: Sállan, English: South island) is Norway's fourth largest island in terms of area. The 811-square-kilometre (313 sq mi) island is divided between Hasvik Municipality and Hammerfest Municipality. It is often claimed to be "one of the most beautiful" of the islands in Norway. In 2012, the population of the island was 1,092. The island is very rocky and mountainous. The highest point on the island is the 659-metre (2,162 ft) tall mountain Komagaksla on the southern shore of the island. The coastline is very jagged and has numerous fjords that cut inland from the open ocean. The island is surrounded by the Norwegian Sea on the north and the Sørøysundet strait to the south.
