Playa de Troya is located in the south of Tenerife in the famous holiday resort Las Américas and is said to have been the first beach on the island that was artificially built up for tourism. It consists of two adjacent bays named Troya I and Troya II. For a safe bathing experience, Playa de Troya was additionally demarcated from the Atlantic Ocean with breakwaters. Nevertheless, the waves can break through from time to time and the water is turbulent despite the sheltered bay. For this reason, a large rescue centre with several lifeguards was installed to ensure the safety of bathers.
The beautiful sandy beach is one of the beaches of Las Américas and is located in one of the largest tourist centres of Tenerife. Accordingly it can become very noisy here due to the road, which lies directly behind the beach at the promenade, since cars and coaches wind through, in order to bring further holiday-makers into their hotels. Las Américas has probably the highest density of hotels and also apartment complexes are offered. Along the street you will also find many shops inviting you to shop in windows and buy souvenirs, as well as supermarkets, restaurants and cafés.
Las Américas is the party metropolis of Tenerife. At both ends of Playa de Troya there are two well-known beach clubs and also in the surrounding area there are many nightclubs and bars with live music. Especially in the summer months, the partying is particularly lively. For many young people the nightly atmosphere is the main reason to come to Playa de Troya.
