Late May is a time of contrasts in Northern Norway. The Midnight Sun is shining at night, but the landscape and mountains are still covered in snow. This is a time where the night can be quiet, calming and magical for those who are awake. This short time-lapse shows how it can be like at night when the sun is shining just above the distant mountains. In Tromso city the period of Midnight Sun last for two months!
The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon that occurs in the summer months in places north of the Arctic Circle or south of the Antarctic Circle, when the Sun remains visible at the local midnight. When the midnight sun is seen in the Arctic, the Sun appears to move from left to right, but in Antarctica the equivalent apparent motion is from right to left. This occurs at latitudes from 65°44' to 90° north or south, and does not stop exactly at the Arctic Circle or the Antarctic Circle, due to refraction.
The opposite phenomenon, polar night, occurs in winter, when the Sun stays below the horizon throughout the day.

According to researchers from Trinity College Dublin and the University of California, San Francisco, a short “awe” walk, where you make a conscious effort to look for things to be amazed by, taken once a week can combat negative emotions and help to maintain a healthy mind! So open your eyes and look for something that amaze you!
"Forest bathing" (Shinrin-yoku in Japanese) / Nature Therapy is all about taking a time out, slowing down and connecting with the joy of being outdoors. Exposure to trees, the sky and natural sounds has a calming effect and is beneficial for mental well-being. In an ideal world you would go for a walk in a forest or sit on a bench in a park and enjoy the view, but it is not always possible to do it. So I hope that my video will be a substitute, but also an inspiration to do forest bathing in real life.
