NATO has an early history of being an “aggressor", says Red Youth Party leader Alberte Bekkhus.

Finland and Sweden's addition into NATO –which may be ratified as early as the end of this year – will further tie the fates of the Arctic to the western military alliance.

“Today we can see that NATO does in some way work as a defence force, for example for the both the countries which are now I think are very happy to be members of NATO,” Ms Bekkhus said.

“But earlier in history, you don’t need to go very far back to see how NATO has worked more as an aggressor than they have … for peace and stability.”
